I recently did hair and makeup for a fashion shoot with photographer Kathy Matthews. We shot the images at Studio 20e, home of Simon Green Photography. It was as always a fun shoot and here are a few images from the day. Kathy has used them for a magazine that she has designed called Fuel.
I need 2 female models for a bridal photoshoot for a local venue. You must be available within the next couple of weeks ( up to 5th June) and available on a weekday. You need to be able to get to Penzance. Images are for website and promotional material for the venue, they will also be put up on here and on Simon Green Photography. If you are interested please email me makeup@suzannagreen.co.uk as soon as possible One of the dangers of taking a hairdressing course is that there is always someone on hand to cut your hair when the whim takes you On Saturday 18th June 2011 at the Ritz in Penzance Bedlam will run it’s first metal & rock night Bedlam is the name for regular music events starting in the darkest, dampest corner of Cornwall and travelling to other venues. We will be taking the best bands we come across with us, with the aim of showing everyone the quality of Cornish Rock and Metal music. The event will be open to age 16+ as we are well aware that there are plenty of amazing young musicians and music fans out there who usually get left out. Tickets are on sale now from www.thesoundofbedlam.com Tickets are £8, a bargain for a night of utterly fabulous music and entertainment Doors open at 7pm I have had a busy weekend this week with bridal makeup trials. On saturday I travelled to the beautiful Rosemullion Hotel in Falmouth for hair and makeup trials for Sara & Abi. They are having their civil ceremony in July. As my first hair clients I was a little nervous but they both put me at ease and the resulting styles were simple yet beautiful. It complemented their makeup a treat. While in falmouth I popped along to see my dear friend Lily of Pretty Things From Pickle, she was attending the Lemon Popsicle Vintage Fair at the methodist church in Falmouth. Although the start of the day was a bit wet…it actually poured down all morning! The afternoon saw beautiful sunshine so a good end to the day. Sunday was an early start, I was in the studio for 08.30 to do a makeup trial for Harriet, also getting married in July. A completely different look for Harriet, a little stronger than Saturday’s makeup but just as stunning, even if I do say so myself I am really looking forward to both weddings. I will get to work with my lovely husband, Simon at Sara & Abi’s wedding as he is their wedding photographer! On Thursday last week I spent the day with photographer Chrisitna Draper and makeup artist Sally Orchard and two very brave models to create a sweet inspired photoshoot. Along with lots and lots of hairspray and some very yummy props we created some very vibrant images. I spent nearly two hours styling one models very long hair into a huge mane of frizzy loveliness. The other model had a more modern funky hairstyle. Both were then passed onto Sally who transformed them with some awesome makeup. It did feel a little strange watching someone else do the makeup, but it was great to watch Sally work. Christina then managed to photograph the girls despite being on crutches after a major hip operation! I can’t wait for the next collaboration :)
Last week I made up the talented model Charlotte Lodey for a bridal dress photoshoot for the upcoming Cornwall WED magazine. WED Issue 17 hits the shops in a couple of weeks. On Sunday 6th March I will be attending the Tregenna Castle Wedding Fair in St Ives. Tregenna Castle, St Ives, Cornwall 10.30am On Wednesday 16th February I travelled to Truro College with several other students from Penwith College for the Cornish Skills day. There were competitions in nails, beauty, complimentary therapies and hairdressing. Over 180 students from across Truro and Penwith took part in the day, culminating in a catwalk show and awards presentation. I was entered into the Level 1 Hairdressing category with the theme of ‘clubbing’. It was a very nerve racking morning but i took a deep breath and concentrated on styling my models(Lily Pickles) hair into a modern clubbing inspired ‘do’. Once we had finished our looks we had the four hour agonising wait until after the catwalk show to find out if we had achieved enough marks to get a medal. It felt really good to know all the hard work had paid off. I want to thank all my tutors at Penwith College for their encouragement and Lily my model for being patient while I backbrushed her hair to death. I can’t wait till the next one As many of you may know I am currently undergoing training in hairdressing to be able to offer this service. I am really enjoying this and can not wait to be able to do hair for weddings and photoshoots etc So tomorrow morning I will be going up to Truro College with my model Lily Pickles and lots of other entrants from Penwith College to take part in this competition. My category is ‘Clubbing’ so Lily will be sporting an appropriate hair do for this category. I will also be styling Lily and doing makeup to complete the look..that bit I am not worried about I am getting very nervous now but excited at the same time. I want to wish everyone that is entering good luck. I will let you all know what happens. |
